Pele Tells Spanish Newspaper He Is the Best Ever, Better Than Ronaldo and Messi

Pele has no shortage of self-confidence, and we don't blame him for that.

In an interview with Marca (h/t Eurosport) on his 75th birthday, the Brazil legend was asked the timeless question: Who's the best player ever?

While he reserved some praise for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona's Lionel Messi, the answer from Pele was simple.

"Please forgive my lack of modesty," he said. "But I've never seen a player as good as Pele was in 1970".

And for the scorer of 1,283 goals in 1,366 career matches, who could argue? We certainly can't fault his use of the third person to describe himself.

He admitted that Messi and Ronaldo are the best players of their era, though we can't help but wonder what if Pele was one of their contemporaries...
