WWE Needs Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt to Be Epic at Hell in a Cell

Tom ClarkOct 24, 2015

WWE's Hell in a Cell is the night when Roman Reigns will face off against the enigmatic Bray Wyatt in what will likely be their final showdown. The angle may have lost some steam along the way, but the company is surely hoping this one will make it all worth it.

Indeed, this match at Hell in a Cell needs to be epic.

On the surface, it seems like the perfect rivalry.  After all, Reigns' Shield had quite the war with Wyatt's family, and it was a war that raged in WWE for quite some time.  It was the meeting of two factions in their prime, and both teams had something to prove against each other.

The Shield and The Wyatt Family earned their stripes in WWE and fans all over the world reaped the benefits of their battles.

The same could very well be said of the wars that have been waged since The Shield split in 2014.

Dean Ambrose and Reigns both have still been in direct conflict with Wyatt and his soldiers.  Despite what creative directions either man has taken, The Wyatts have consistently been there and have always been a very strong option for feuding.

There is no doubting the chemistry that exists here, and it's really always been there.

However that chemistry has not always translated to Reigns versus Wyatt collectively. Perhaps the fault is with WWE Creative in terms of not allowing them to tell a compelling story. Perhaps the guys themselves have not felt it as much as they could have as a result.

Or maybe the fans have just not bought it.

But thanks to Ambrose and the introduction of Braun Strowman, business has picked up. Reigns has received some spotlight thanks to The Lunatic Fringe, and Wyatt has a new disciple to keep things interesting for his side.

Now that the focus is primarily back on them, the only issue is the last match that will be fought on October 25.

Hell in a Cell must be booked as the deciding fight, the one that wraps up all the loose ends.  All of the aggression, all of the rage and all of the hate that came out during this feud must be dealt with in the Cell match.

This should be the most memorable of all their confrontations, the one fans can point to months from now as the defining moment in their rivalry.

Hell in a Cell should be a match of massive magnitude, one that warrants a feud epic in scope.  That means Reigns and Wyatt must deliver.

Any staleness that may have been attached to this one in the past must be ignored; both guys must push beyond it and make Hell in a Cell worth the price of admission for fans. This is their opportunity to cash in on the popularity of their respective factions' heat and give the crowd something to talk about from the time the last bell rings.

With any luck, this one will have a definitive end as well.

The best part is that a win for either man would work here and the reason for that is neither man can afford a loss.  Reigns has been on the main event track for quite some time while Wyatt has never really been on that path so a win would be great in both cases.

By the same token, since Reigns and Wyatt are viewed as strong performers, then a loss would not be the end of the world for either man.  This is a match that can go either way, and if the company books it properly, then it will work.

Six months from now if WWE wants to revisit this rivalry, then it can.  Reigns versus Wyatt will always be there and can be perhaps more entertaining than it is now.

But this match in particular needs to deliver.  It's too big and too important.  WWE needs to show it can not only create main event talents, but cultivate them with big events as well, otherwise no one would care about a revisited rivalry at all.

This match has the potential to be a hit, and if the guys involved do their part, then WWE should succeed in giving fans something they will never forget.
