Aguero Starts vs. Arsenal

Monday, Dec. 21

Manchester City confirmed Aguero is in the starting lineup for the crucial Premier League fixture against the Gunners.

Pellegrini Comments on Aguero's Fitness Status

Friday, Dec. 18

"Aguero is working with the squad normally," said City boss Manuel Pellegrini. He continued: "We'll assess [Aguero] to see if he's 100 percent fit to start on Monday [vs. Arsenal] but I think he'll be in the squad list, yes."

Aguero Comments on Injury

Monday, Nov. 30

"For everyone asking, I'm fine," the striker said on Twitter. "It's just a harmless bump on the heel. Thanks, all of you, for the support!"

Bony Offers Cover, but City Miss Star Striker

Aguero is the Citizens' top attacking option when healthy, but he has already missed a significant part of the season with a hamstring injury suffered while away on international duty with Argentina.

As reported by Transfermarkt, his heel problem is the just latest in a long line of knocks and injuries that have slowed down the former Atletico Madrid ace.

Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling did a fine job carrying the scoring load while Aguero was sidelined in October, and in Wilfried Bony, City have a capable backup adept at holding onto the ball and presenting a target inside the box.

However, Aguero's surging runs and killer instinct cannot be replaced. The pocket-sized striker is one of the most uniquely gifted players in the world and is a first-team certainty when he returns.
