Frank Caliendo Reviews New 'Star Wars' Trailer with ESPN Impersonations

Dan CarsonOct 20, 2015

Frank Caliendo is inevitable.

He is sun and rain, moon and sky. Where there is work to be done at ESPN, Caliendo will be waiting in the wings, ready to fill airspace with his impersonations.

The good news is he's pretty exceptional at his job. Every few weeks, he shows up on your screen with another eerily spot-on impression of one of Bristol's foremost figures.

This time around, the comedian took on a hybrid challenge that combined his doppelganger skills with his knowledge of nerd trivia: breaking down the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.

ESPN aired the preview during halftime of Monday night's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. Tuesday morning, Caliendo went on Mike & Mike and dove into his bag of ESPN impressions in order to break down the upcoming film.

There's a lot of good in here, particularly Caliendo's Chris Berman, Stephen A. Smith and Lou Holtz impressions.

Some of my favorite lines:

"

As Chris Berman: "That is my favorite wookie of all time. There's been a lot of wookies who've done a great job, but Chew-bac-bac-bac-bac-bac...I'm gonna go to it a million times, out in Dagobah."

As Stephen A. Smith: "Anyone who doesn't dress up for this historic event I find repulsive, repugnant, refutable and should be sent to Tatooine to live their lives in the loneliness of the desert landscape."

Lou Holtz: "Purple light-shaber, red light-shaber, green light-shaber...it doesn't matter! You've got the forsh!"

"

Man, Caliendo got Holtz good—after he left the company, too.

Dan is on Twitter. He's just excited to hear "parsecs" being tossed around again.
