Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed that watching Alexis Sanchez torment his former club at the Emirates earlier this month turned his sons into Arsenal fans.

Ferdinand took his boys to watch the Gunners' 3-0 demolition of United on October 4, and Sanchez's first-half brace left a lasting impression on the mini Rios.

"My boys came to the game in Manchester United tops, but they left asking for Alexis Sanchez shirts," Ferdinand told BreatheSport, via the Mirror.

The Chilean scored again as Arsenal overcame Watford on Saturday. Ferdinand has his work cut out for him if he's to keep his boys faithful to his former club.

After a backlash on social media, Rio Ferdinand wanted to make it clear his kids were still Manchester United fans.

My kids are fully @ManUtd fans! They were just very down after the arsenal game...and Sanchez produced a couple of moments!
