In 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Manchester United for a world-record fee of £80 million. But by comparison, his first transfer was a bargain, costing just two sets of kit and 20 footballs.

The Portugal forward progressed swiftly and has subsequently developed into such a player that even that £80 million fee is considered by many as good value.

He's not the only player to have moved for such a price as a youngster. Another man to wear Manchester United's No. 7 shirt, Angel Di Maria, made his first move as a kid for 26 footballs, as the Daily Mirror noted.
