Sammy Watkins Valiantly Tries to Catch Over-the-Shoulder Passes in Weird Drill

I kind of get what Sammy Watkins is trying to do here.

Catching over-the-shoulder passes is a hugely valuable skill teams covet in a wide receiver. The best wideouts can track a ball over the top and have their hands ready in anticipation of the catch.

This is all well and good. But it doesn't really explain what Watkins is doing. 

The Buffalo Bills wideout was seen simulating some kind of over-the-shoulder pass drill at practice Thursday. Most wideouts do this while running fades, where they have the benefit of seeing the pass as it's thrown and watching its path through the air. 

Not Sammy. He's just sitting on the ground, hoping to grab a ball lobbed over his head from directly behind him.
