Seth Rollins vs. Kane: Winner and Reaction from WWE Hell in a Cell 2015

Mike ChiariOct 25, 2015

After several weeks of being outsmarted by Kane, Seth Rollins finally came out on top Sunday at WWE Hell in a Cell as he defeated The Demon and put an end to the Corporate Kane persona in the process.

WWE provided a look at Rollins hoisting his championship belt after he won the match clean:

A Frog Splash from Rollins was one of the most exciting parts of a physical match, per WWE Universe:

At one point, Kane was slammed into the Spanish announce table, and somehow the table survived:

The History of WWE and WrestlingNewsSource provided their takes on the match:

Rollins and Kane have long been members of The Authority, but their relationship has been tumultuous, to say the least. After recovering from an injury that he suffered at the hands of Brock Lesnar, The Big Red Monster decided to set his sights on Rollins and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Kane prevented Sheamus from cashing in his Money in the Bank contract at Night of Champions and followed that up by taking out the former architect of The Shield as well. Ever since then, Kane has played mind games with Rollins and The Authority by switching between his Demon and Corporate characters.

While Kane was able to pull the wool over the eyes of many, Rollins was privy to his plan from the start and made it clear that he wouldn't be fooled, according to WWE Universe on Twitter:

That didn't stop Kane from continuing to scheme, however. He used an injury that he suffered as Corporate Kane as an excuse to morph into Demon Kane on many occasions.

Also, when The Authority stopped Kane from putting himself in a Lumberjack match against Rollins on Raw, he again wrestled as Demon Kane and acted as though he was a different person.

As David Otunga pointed out on the Raw pre-show, those tactics seemed to give Kane a huge mental edge entering the world title match at Hell in a Cell:

Despite Kane's dominance prior to the pay-per-view, it was difficult to believe that WWE would have a veteran of his ilk defeat Rollins in a big match.

Rollins has a penchant for losing with great regularity on Raw and SmackDown when his title isn't on the line, but he has found a way to keep the WWE World Heavyweight Championship around his waist by hook or by crook when the matches matter.

He rose to the occasion again at Hell in a Cell, which set the stage for an interesting situation moving forward, as Kane will have to be The Demon at all times.

The fact that Rollins essentially stripped Kane of his identity suggests they have issues with each other that could lead to additional matches, although it would be preferable if both Superstars move on since there are more intriguing rivalries available to each of them.

Rollins got what he needed in the form of a victory at Hell in a Cell, and now the onus is on WWE to take advantage of the momentum.
