Yeldon Unable to Shake Injury Bug During Rookie Season
Yeldon, 22, previously dealt with a groin injury suffered in Week 5.
In his first season out of Alabama, Yeldon's largely been held in check. Following Week 10, Yeldon has rushed for 531 yards and one touchdown. His struggles have continued a trend of poor play at the position since Maurice Jones-Drew's departure.
Of course, not all of Yeldon's problems have been on him. The Jaguars offensive line remains among the NFL's worst, ranking in the bottom half of the league in Football Outsiders' pass-blocking and run-blocking metrics. He's also drawn some praise from defensive players around the league for his hard running style.
"He looks like a smaller version of Le'Veon Bell to me," Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said, via Andrew Astleford of ESPN.com. "(Yeldon) has a little power to him, but he can make you miss. You can be standing right in front of him, and you'll miss. He's still a little raw, though. He's got a lot to learn. But he's a good back."
The Jaguars could, in all likelihood, turn to Toby Gerhart if Yeldon misses more time later this season, though Denard Robinson figures to be the safer bet due to his receiving skills. Bernard Pierce could also be seen as an option for the Jaguars.
