Illness Adds to Rooney's Difficult Season
Time spent recovering represents another blow for Rooney in what hasn’t been an easy campaign for the Red Devils skipper. Early on in the term, Rooney really struggled for form, lacking the composure that has defined him as a United player.
On the international front, things have been better for the England captain, as he scored his 50th goal for the Three Lions and became the country’s most prolific goalscorer.
He scored his 51st goal for his country on Nov. 17 in a friendly with France as he converted a fine volley.
Still, despite scaling those highs, Rooney has been unable to sparkle with much consistency when donning United red.
Some time to recuperate may do Rooney good after he has looked jaded of late. A lot of United supporters have slowly started to lose confidence in the skipper, but this illness and a rundown of their options could trigger a pang of not knowing what you’ve got until it’s gone.
