NXT: Full Preview, Match Card and More for October 14

The Doctor Chris MuellerOct 14, 2015

Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for this week's episode of WWE NXT, where we take a spoiler-free look at what's in store for the developmental brand's upcoming episode.

Last week's TakeOver: Respect live special was a huge success. Asuka made a great impression in her first match. Finn Balor and Samoa Joe won the first Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and Bayley put on another instant classic against Sasha Banks in the main event.

While the two-hour specials are always entertaining, it will be nice to get back to the usual setup. Let's take a look at everything that's scheduled for this week's episode of NXT.

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

The Women

Bayley will be appearing to celebrate her big win over Banks in an Iron Man match, but she won't be wrestling. Instead, we will get to see the second debut of an NXT Diva in as many weeks.

Nia Jax will make her first appearance against an indy talent named Evie. NXT has hyped Jax's debut via video packages since TakeOver: Brooklyn, and it looks like she is being positioned as a major threat.

Jax didn't spend time working the independent circuit, so this will be the first time any of us will get to see what she is capable of. One thing she has working in her favor is being related to The Rock and the rest of the Anoa'i wrestling dynasty.

If talent is genetic, then Jax has the potential to be great, but as we have seen over the years, simply having a family connection to the business doesn't guarantee success. Remember Scott Putski?

Jax is facing someone who is not signed to a WWE contract, so her first match will likely be an easy win to give her momentum. Let's hope she and her opponent have enough time to make a good first impression.

The Tag Teams

The Vaudevillains didn't have to defend their tag titles at last week's TakeOver special, but their vacation comes to an end this week when they battle Sawyer Fulton and Angelo Dawkins.

This could be an easy win for the mustachioed duo, but if officials plan on booking Fulton and Dawkins as title contenders, they might get the upset.

It was a little odd that Aiden English and Simon Gotch were eliminated so quickly in the Dusty Rhodes classic, but they already have the title belts, so they don't need a trophy to prove they are a good tag team.

With Balor still serving as NXT champion, it's unlikely he and Samoa Joe will be challenging The Vaudevillains for the NXT Tag Team Championships anytime soon.

It's always fun to see English and Gotch do their thing, so we should be in store for a good match regardless of which team picks up the win.

The Men

This week only features three matches, but the main event is a doozy. Dozens of competitors will compete in a Battle Royal to crown a new No. 1 contender to Balor's NXT Championship.

Many of the participants are just meant to serve as filler for the bigger stars to eliminate, but several people in this match are logical candidates.

Tyler Breeze, Rhyno, Samoa Joe, Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin are all plausible challengers, but we might also see a dark horse such as Enzo Amore or Colin Cassady have a chance at singles stardom.

It's possible WWE will wait until NXT TakeOver: London to give the winner his title shot, but with that event being more than two months away, we may see that match sooner than we think.

Battle Royals are almost always a good time, so regardless of who wins, we should be in for a fun episode of NXT to follow what was one of the better TakeOver specials of 2015.

What are you looking forward to seeing on this week's show?
