WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for October 15

Erik BeastonOct 13, 2015

Just over a week from Hell in a Cell, "Lunatic Fringe" Dean Ambrose rolled into his hometown of Cincinnati for Tuesday night's SmackDown tapings.

In the evening's main event, he would have the opportunity to avenge the defeat suffered at the hands of The New Day on Raw by teaming with The Dudley Boyz in six-man tag team action.

Would the city's favorite son, its unstable hero, be able to right the wrong from Monday night with a victory or would The New Day continue its monumental run of late?

The issues between Summer Rae and Rusev were the other major story of this week's television tapings, with the leggy blonde searching for another opportunity to stick it to The Bulgarian Brute after it was revealed that he and former manager/flame Lana are engaged.

As the special referee, would she cost her "Ru-Ru" a victory over Dolph Ziggler or would she call it right down the middle?

If "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" has any legitimacy to it, the answer to that question should be fairly obvious.

After warning the WWE Universe that he had picked another hero to try to vanquish, Stardust finally revealed the object of his obsession.

Who was it, and what were the other Superstars of World Wrestling Entertainment up to in the Queen City?

Fans inside the U.S. Bank Arena found out on Tuesday, and now you can too thanks to our friends over at Wrestling Inc.

Results

  • Roman Reigns' opening promo was interrupted by Bo Dallas.
  • Reigns defeated Dallas. After the match, Bray Wyatt cut another ominous promo, warning him of what awaits him at Hell in a Cell.
  • Sheamus and King Barrett defeated Cesaro and Neville when Stardust interfered, distracting the Swiss Superman with "Stardust Section" signs.
  • Intercontinental champion Kevin Owens defeated Zack Ryder. Ryback was at ringside and prevented his rival from further attacking Ryder.
  • Ziggler defeated Rusev following a fast count from special referee Summer Rae. After the match, she attempted to celebrate with Ziggler but was turned down.
  • Luke Harper and Braun Strowman defeated The Prime Time Players.
  • Charlotte defeated Alicia Fox with the Figure Eight. After the match, Team Bella beat down Charlotte and Becky Lynch until Paige made the save. Backstage, Natalya was shown laid out.
  • The Dudley Boyz and Ambrose defeated The New Day by disqualification when Xavier Woods used the trombone on Bubba Ray.After the match, the heels took cheap shots and stood tall to end the broadcast.

Analysis

The New Day's dominance over WWE will continue on Thursday night with a beatdown of Ambrose and The Dudley Boyz because, after all, the company cannot have the hometown hero Ambrose look too strong for the benefit of the fans.

To be fair, though, The New Day has been building tremendous momentum for itself over the last few weeks, and losing cleanly would have been a mistake. So why not have the team bail from the ring, leaving Ambrose to soak up the cheers as SmackDown comes to a close?

The focus on the Reigns-Wyatt feud is smart because, of the three main events that will take place at Hell in a Cell, it is arguably the hottest.

Then there is the nonsense involving Summer Rae, Rusev and Ziggler. Anyone who thought she would immediately be paired with Ziggleras if nothing had happenedappears to be wrong, as The Showoff spurned her advances following his victory.

Where that leaves Summer Rae in the weeks to come is a mystery that should be, at the very least, fun to watch play out.

At a time when WWE continues to struggle in terms of television ratings, it has done little to help improve SmackDown and make it destination television. This is no different, with an uninspired show that did nothing to advance feuds.

If not for the awesome reveal of Cesaro as Stardust's latest prey, this would be a completely forgettable show.
