NFL Week 6 Picks: Latest Predictions for Updated Spreads

Ryan McCrystalOct 14, 2015

Week 6 could be a week for upsets in the NFL.

Six teams remain undefeated entering Week 6, but five will play on the road: Bengals, Patriots, Panthers, Falcons and Broncos.

It's never easy to win away from home in the NFL even as a favorite, which means the 1972 Dolphins can probably cross a few more teams off the list of the unbeatens this week.

Notable Games

Atlanta Falcons (-3) at New Orleans Saints

Matt Ryan is just 2-5 in his career at the Superdome, but aside from the outcomes, he's fared well in those starts.

In seven games in New Orleans, Ryan has a 92.4 quarterback rating and has thrown 11 touchdowns against just six interceptions.

For the majority of Ryan's career, the talent gap between the Saints and Falcons has just been too much to overcome, but the tables have turned in 2015.

Saints cornerbacks Delvin Breaux and Brandon Browner are struggling and have the unenviable task of trying to slow down Julio Jones.

While both Browner and Breaux are new to the Saints, this has historically been a matchup in which Jones excels. In 2014, Jones hauled in 14 catches on 17 targets for 223 yards in his two games against New Orleans.

Of course, all of this changes if Jones is unable to play due to a sore hamstring. As of Tuesday afternoon, head coach Dan Quinn told Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he expects Jones to be ready.

Prediction: Falcons 31, Saints 24

Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) at Buffalo Bills

The Bengals opened as just one-point favorites, but that number has already been driven up to 3.5 due to the injury to Tyrod Taylor.

According to CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora, Taylor could miss multiple weeks, and the Bills are expecting to move forward with former starter EJ Manuel.

The Bills actually have an almost-respectable 6-8 record with Manuel as their starter, but only one of his six victories came against a team that finished with a winning record (the 2013 Panthers).

According to John Wawrow of the Associated Press, Karlos Williams and Sammy Watkins are expected to return, but LeSean McCoy's status remains uncertain.

With the Bills' rash of injuries, it's tough to imagine them being in position to handle the red-hot Bengals.

Prediction: Bengals 24, Bills 14

Arizona Cardinals (-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers

It was easy to pencil in a few losses for the Steelers once Ben Roethlisberger went down, but after a near-victory over Baltimore and a road win against the Chargers, Michael Vick appears to be up for the challenge of keeping the Steelers in the playoff race.

According to ScoresAndOdds.com, the Steelers are an impressive 9-2 against the spread when playing teams with a winning record over the past three seasons.

While the Cardinals are 2-0 on the road this season, their victories came at Chicago and Detroit, two floundering franchises.

Pittsburgh is always a tough place to play, especially for those unfamiliar with the environment. Under Mike Tomlin, the Steelers are 29-12 at Heinz Field against nondivision opponents

If Vick can continue to manage the game and allow Le'Veon Bell to control the clock, this could be an opportunity for a nice upset victory for the Steelers.

Prediction: Steelers 24, Cardinals 21
