Jones to Play vs. Buccaneers

Friday, Sept. 9

The Falcons announced that Jones will play on Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Jones Comments on Injury

Friday, Aug. 26

"I'm doing great," Jones said after the game, per Ledbetter. He continued:

"

It's preseason. I did a couple of series and I was just done. I could have went, but I was just done. They didn't need to see any more out of me of even try to risk something because it's preseason and it really doesn't count. We just wanted to get the young guys in there and get them some good looks.

"

Injuries Continue to Surface for Jones

Jones battled some lingering injury issues last season, most notably a hamstring problem after Week 5, but was able to start all 16 regular-season games for the first time in his career.

The 27-year-old was incredible last season, ranking as the NFL's second-best player at his position, according to Pro Football Focus, and leading the league in receptions (136) and yards (1,871).

After starting 5-0, the Falcons fell off a cliff in 2015, suffering eight losses over the last 11 games. The offense around Jones was erratic last year, with star running back Devonta Freeman getting dinged up and missing one game.

Jones was far and away the Falcons' top wide receiver in 2015. He had nearly twice as many catches as Freeman (73) and outpaced tight end Jacob Tamme by more than 1,200 yards.
