The Steelers announced Allen was a full participant in practice for the second straight day, though he was limited on Wednesday.
Allen's Impact on Steelers
Allen was considered one of the Steelers’ best defensive players early in the season. He had 22 tackles entering Week 5 and snagged a game-winning interception against the St. Louis Rams in Week 3.
However, he allowed a 12-yard touchdown to Chargers tight end Antonio Gates with nine minutes and 50 seconds remaining in the first quarter of Week 5. One would have to assume the injury played a role, as Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune indicated that Gates was wide-open on the score:
Allen, 33, was re-signed in April when Troy Polamalu announced his retirement. He supplanted safety Shamarko Thomas, Polamalu’s heir apparent, prior to the season-opening loss to the New England Patriots.
