Liverpool Transfer News: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ruben Neves, Top Rumours
Liverpool are in the hunt for two of Europe's top talents after the appointment of Jurgen Klopp, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ruben Neves both touted for possible moves to Anfield.
The Sun said Klopp wants to make former player Aubameyang the first signing of his tenure when the January transfer window opens, with the Borussia Dortmund star reportedly carrying a £35 million price tag.
Aubameyang's standing has risen since joining Klopp at BVB in 2013, as he has scored prolifically for the Westfalenstadion team.

The 26-year-old talent—who can also play in midfield—has 10 goals to his name in just eight Bundesliga matches this term, according to WhoScored.com. He would add significant firepower to the Reds forward line.
Klopp has admitted he needs time to refresh team options at Liverpool, speaking to Bild (h/t the Guardian's Marcus Christenson), claiming he isn't the "miracle worker" many fans believe he is, rooting the tough task firmly in reality:
"There is no doubt, this is a huge challenge, for me and my coaching team. We knew that full well [when we accepted the job]. Liverpool have not had any success for a long time and they’ve changed the manager all the time. And now they have appointed a German who is no miracle worker. Progress is not possible without a bit of time.
"
It will be no surprise to see Klopp revisit his Dortmund player base, recruiting footballers he knows can perform certain functions. Aubameyang would certainly supplement the goal threat provided by Daniel Sturridge.
Ryan Rosenblatt of Eurosport highlighted the striker's versatility, but said BVB will not let the player leave without opposition:
"Aubameyang is a terrific player whose versatility would be a huge boost to Liverpool. When Aubameyang first joined Dortmund, he spent a fair bit of time on the wing, but then he went up top. He's proven he can be a good player in either position and that's crucial at a club bringing in a new manager and set to undergo massive changes.
The ability to fit in several ways is key and Aubameyang gives them that, plus quality. Prying him from Dortmund won't be easy, though.
"
Klopp does have alternative striking targets, though, with Simon Mullock of the Mirror reporting the coach wants a reunion with Robert Lewandowski after the player's agent, Cezary Kucharski, hinted he might be tempted away from Bayern Munich in the future.
Klopp to Battle Chelsea for Prodigy

Liverpool are ready to fight Premier League champions Chelsea for teenage Porto sensation Ruben Neves as Klopp identifies Europe's top young players to build his side around.
Chris McKenna of the Daily Star said Anfield scouts were in Portugal on Friday to run the rule over the player as he featured for the under-21 national side against Hungary.
Liverpool coach Pep Lijnders—a respected name in youth football—is believed to have recommended the player to the German coach after working with Neves at Porto, per McKenna. However, the Reds will have to contest for his signature with Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho, with a £20 million bidding war on the cards.

The next few months will be testing for Klopp and his team as they look to find a quick way of making Liverpool a force on the ultimately failed work of the Brendan Rodgers era. The new boss has a squad full of talent, but Rodgers could not make them a consistent unit—and this will be Klopp's first hurdle.
Aubameyang has yet to become a superstar despite his amazing efforts at Dortmund, and a reunion with Klopp might be appealing to the striker as he searches for a new stage upon which he could achieve that status.
Liverpool can give the player the platform he needs to perform, and with Klopp pulling the strings, he will be working for a coach he trusts implicitly.
