Lithuania vs. England: Date, Time, Live Stream for Euro 2016 Qualifier

Sam TigheOct 11, 2015

England round off their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign with a trip to Lithuania knowing a victory will complete the perfect sweep of the group.

Having played nine, won nine, scored 27 goals and conceded just three, it's impossible to escape the fact that Roy Hodgson's men have dominated Group E, and it's expected they'll complete the job in Vilnius on Monday.

Lithuania are no slouches at home, having won 50 percent of their games played there, but they have nothing to play for: Their 1-1 draw with Slovenia last week confirmed their exit from qualifying contention, per UEFA.com.

Team News

Lithuania

Lithuania have never beaten England in competitive football despite playing them seven times. Five wins, two draws and a glut of goals over the years for the Three Lions affirm their superiority in this fixture.

Nevertheless, the hosts will be looking to go out with a flourish and remind Europe of their stature on home soil. The XI rolled out should be as strong as possible, and it's likely it will look similar to the one that grabbed a point off Slovenia last week.

First-choice goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis is not with the squad due to suspension, but joint top-scorers Fiodor Cernych and Arvydas Novikovas are.

England

Per Sky Sports, Jack Butland is set to gain his second senior England cap on Monday as he starts in goal against Lithuania. His first came back in 2012 against Italy, and since then, he's impressed for the Under-21 setup and in Asmir Begovic's wake at Stoke City.

Jamie Vardy impressed greatly off the bench against Estonia, racing clear and setting up Raheem Sterling for England's second goal, and he could be given the chance to impress from the off. Jonjo Shelvey is expected to start too.

Ryan Bertrand and Kieran Gibbs will continue to fight it out at left-back, while Phil Jones could also see some action after a period out injured to begin the season.

Key Men

England: Ross Barkley

Barkley's great start to the Premier League campaign with Everton earned him an England re-call from Roy Hodgson, and against Estonia he won the man-of-the-match award thanks to a penetrative, dangerous display.

“It was important we didn’t fall into the trap of playing deep, playing deep and compact. We had to try and get in among them, try to take the ball through them and into them, and he did that," Hodgson told reporters after the game, per the Daily Star.

Barkley dictated from deep, moved the ball on quickly and threaded some lovely passes into forward areas. Can he do it again against a Lithuania side bound to be just as stubborn?

Lithuania: Georgas Freidgeimas

It's a fair bet than Lithuania will end up defending and counter-attacking in this game, so defensive solidity becomes key. In the face of great technical and physical pressure, the defensive line will need to put in a heroic effort to keep the scoreline from getting out of hand.

Freidgeimas impressed at Wembley during the reverse fixture thanks to his combativeness and determination in the centre, and he'll need to stand as a pillar in order to nullifying the likes of Vardy, Theo Walcott and Harry Kane.
