Sunday Recap

Tomic took the lead against Verdasco 6-3 in a comfortable first set for the Australian.

The second set was a much tighter affair with just one break point opportunity shared between the two players, with Tomic this time failing to convert.

The 22-year-old took an early 3-0 lead in the resulting tiebreaker and from there remained firmly in control, showing great composure to see out the match taking the first of his three match points.

Coric's match with Dolgopolov was a hard-fought contest in which the Ukrainian mounted a strong comeback after losing the first set.

The Croatian had the edge in the opener as he gave his opponent no opportunities to break. Dolgopolov saved two break points himself, but when Coric found the break that was enough for him to draw first blood.

Dolgopolov roared back into contention with a dominant second set, and an evenly contested final set in which they exchanged breaks was decided on a tiebreaker.

Coric narrowly came out on top, and could face Marin Cilic in Round 2.

The full draw can be found here. The second round will see the entry of some of the biggest names in tennis as Novak Djokovic tops the seedings, with Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka rounding out the top four.
