After the match, the Red Devils announced the midfielder is a doubt for the Sunday's clash with Swansea City as a result of the knock.
It’s an undeniable setback for both the player and the Red Devils, with each hoping for a prosperous campaign following his world-record transfer this summer.
Pogba’s authoritative displays at the core of the Juventus XI in 2015-16 were central to the Bianconeri's second consecutive Coppa Italia-Serie A double.
Still, this season was expected to be even more significant for Pogba. He rejoined United for a second spell, four years after he left the club, and he was hoping to cement his reputation as one of the world's best midfielders.
The France international has looked up to the task in the early stages of his second stint at United. Pogba has settled into a better rhythm as the season has rumbled on and looked set to play a significant role in United's Premier League title challenge.
Should he be sidelined, United do have quality cover in this area, with Ander Herrera, Morgan Schneiderlin, Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini all capable of filling in. Still, Pogba’s marriage of power and panache will prove extremely difficult to replicate.
