Twitter Reacts to Jurgen Klopp's 1st Press Conference as Liverpool Manager
Jurgen Klopp was finally unveiled as Liverpool's manager on Friday after days of rumours and speculation linking him to take over from Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.
Fans and journalists waited eagerly for the former Borussia Dortmund manager's first press conference, and his first impression was a good one:

With a glint in his eye and a grin on his face, Klopp carefully answered the usual questions about what it meant to take over at Liverpool and how he planned to return them to the glory of years past:
"Klopp on expectations: "History is only the base for us. You can't carry it in your backpack every day."

"Klopp: "If anyone wants to help Liverpool, they have to change from doubter to believer. Stop thinking about money. Only football."
— Tony Barrett (@TonyBarretTimes) October 9, 2015"
It didn't take long before he was asked to compare himself to the self-appointed "Special One," and he passed with flying colours:
"Klopp: "I'm the normal one." Great line.

"I think I already love Jurgen Klopp. #TheNormalOne

The press loved him:
"I have been in a few but this is a magnificent opening press conference from Jurgen Klopp. Room in the palm of his hand

"Klopp: 'you can't carry history in your backpack everyday' I reckon backpacking with Klopp would be a lot of fun.

"All about what happens on pitch but Klopp is a brilliant communicator. He presses all the right buttons: for media, fans & crucially players

"We British are spectacularly good at fawning over managers but that was an impressive start from #Klopp #Backpack
— Dan Walker (@mrdanwalker) October 9, 2015"
But he knew to be wary:
"Klopp: "Everyone told me about the British press. So it is up to you . . to show me you are all liars." Touche.
— Daniel Taylor (@DTguardian) October 9, 2015"
He also delivered a line that is sure to send already-excited Liverpool fans into overdrive:
"Klopp says he's confident he'll win "at least one title" trophies for #LFC. If not, he says, the next job will be " ... maybe Switzerland"
— Oliver Kay (@OliverKayTimes) October 9, 2015"
"The secret to being a successful manager is to give a great first press conference. After that, results barely matter.
— Tom Collomosse (@TomCStandard) October 9, 2015"
There was only one man who wouldn't have enjoyed Klopp's hugely impressive first appearance as Liverpool's manager:
"Somewhere in Spain, Brendan Rodgers closes Twitter. A single tear runs down his face. "The league," he sobs. "I nearly won the league."

What a character.
