WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for October 8
The rivalry between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt continues to escalate with every passing episode of WWE programming, and on Tuesday night, just weeks from their much-anticipated Hell in a Cell match, they battled in the main event of this week's SmackDown taping.
Wyatt partnered with the massive and seemingly indestructible Braun Strowman to battle Reigns and former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton.
Would Reigns and Orton continue their winning ways, building on the momentum they acquired via a victory in a massive six-man tag team match on Raw, or would Wyatt and Strowman avenge their defeat?

Elsewhere on the card, Dolph Ziggler looked to avenge the assault he suffered at the hands of The New Day on Monday night. To do so, he would be faced with the challenge of Big E, a man he once aligned with during his relationship with A.J. Lee.
Neville squared off with King Barrett, the Divas Revolution continued, and Ryback battled Rusev in a match that would have been a huge battle prior to Ru-Ru's infatuation with blonde bombshells.
Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center was home to this week's taping. Those in the City of Brotherly Love already know what to expect when SmackDown hits the SyFy airwaves Thursday night at 8 p.m. Now you can too, courtesy of WrestlingInc.com.

Analysis
It should be interesting to see if the New Day angle that ended the show was dark or actually part of the show that will air Thursday. It does not seem to make much sense if it was, since the trio has no connection whatsoever with Roman Reigns.
If it does turn out to be part of the show, WWE Creative will have to walk the very thin line that exists in relation to New Day. It is one thing to expose them and tell fans that the trio is of great importance. It is another thing to overexpose them in the manner they did Seth Rollins, to the point that fans grow bored of the act because they have seen it so many times.
With that said, Big E's victory over Dolph Ziggler was the right decision, as was the trio's appearance in the opening promo. The team is hot right now and continuing to build momentum is exactly the right thing to do.
The main event finish is awful, but it helps all involved save face, sparing them a defeat before the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
Whereas recent weeks have featured developments that have helped SmackDown feel more interesting and important than it has at times over the last year, this week's show falls back into the realm of the meaningless.
With no real storyline developments, the Oct. 8 episode figures to be a skippable one.
