Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Thomas Muller and Victor Valdes Rumours
Manchester United reportedly remain very interested in signing Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller in next summer's transfer window.
Rumours of the Red Devils' interest in the German international have been prolific of late, even to the extent that Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has warned United off the star forward, per SportBild's Christian Falk (h/t Jack Watts of the Daily Star).
However, Spanish outlet Fichajes.net (h/t Metro's Mark Brus) reported Muller remains a "top priority" for United boss Louis van Gaal as he remains short in attack.

Muller has been outshone by his irrepressible teammate, Robert Lewandowski, so far this season, but he remains a stunningly effective finisher and has netted eight Bundesliga goals in 2015-16, per WhoScored.com.
United could likely only persuade Bayern to part with the 26-year-old by offering an astronomical transfer fee after reportedly having a £65 million bid rejected in the summer, per German outlet Bild (h/t Metro's Will Giles).
Per Simon Rice of the Independent, Muller is known to have a good relationship with one-time Bayern manager Van Gaal.
However, his contract at Bayern runs until 2019, thus putting the Bundesliga giants in a strong negotiating position.
United have shown in the last few transfer windows they are unafraid to splash the cash, and they may be prepared to go big to sign Muller considering their current issues in attack.
While £36 million summer signing Anthony Martial has excelled since his arrival at Old Trafford, captain Wayne Rooney has been abject this season, and his goalscoring form has seemingly disappeared of late, per BBC Match of the Day:
Even if Rooney's form improves, he is 30 years old on Oct. 24, and United undoubtedly need further quality and depth in their front line.
Muller would be an ideal addition to the United squad, but they may struggle to snap him up from Bayern given his importance to the German side.

Meanwhile, out-of-favour United goalkeeper Victor Valdes looks unlikely to get a move to Sevilla despite recent reports linking him with the Spanish club, per Spanish outlet AS (h/t Sport Witness).
Per AS, Sevilla president Jose Castro has now ruled out a January move for the former Barcelona goalkeeper:
United would likely be happy to see Valdes leave in the new year, as he has fallen out of favour with Van Gaal after the Dutchman accused him of refusing to turn out for the reserves, per Sky Sports.
But while the 33-year-old would be a fine addition to almost any European side, Sevilla are not set to go in for him.
