Real Madrid Transfer News: Miralem Pjanic Targeted, Latest Karim Benzema Rumours

Rory MarsdenOct 5, 2015

Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing Roma's Miralem Pjanic and intend to make a move for the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Los Blancos have sent scouts to watch Pjanic in his last two matches—against Carpi and Palermo—and Real boss Rafael Benitez is eager to take him to the Bernabeu, per Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football Italia).

The Bosnian international has been at Roma since 2011 and is enjoying a terrific start to the new 2015-16 Serie A season after scoring three goals and providing three assists in six appearances, per WhoScored.comHe is contracted at the Stadio Olimpico outfit until 2018, and Roma would be highly unlikely to let the 25-year-old depart the Italian capital for anything other than an astronomical transfer fee.

Real are one of the most financially powerful clubs in world football, and if they want Pjanic, they will likely be prepared to shell out for him.

Pjanic is undeniably a top-class midfielder. He is a powerful dribbler, has terrific passing range and can be hugely effective at set pieces, as he has proven recently, per BT Sport Football:

However, it is debatable whether he is needed at the Bernabeu and whether the former Lyon man could force himself into the starting XI. Real already have the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Mateo Kovacic, James Rodriguez, Isco and Casemiro battling for places in the centre of midfield, and they do not necessarily need another option.

Elsewhere, rumours have yet again emerged linking Los Blancos striker Karim Benzema with a potential move to Arsenal

The Frenchman admitted to being fed up after he was once again substituted in Sunday's match against Atletico Madrid, per Agustin Martin of AS.

As a result, the Daily Star's Jamie Anderson suggests the Gunners may renew their long-term interest in Benzema.

Real, though, are highly unlikely to even consider selling such a valuable player—he has netted six times in six La Liga matches this season, per WhoScored—and the Gunners will surely be disappointed if they renew their interest again.
