
Jurgen Klopp Officially Named New Liverpool Manager
Liverpool's search for a new manager following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers is over after the club unveiled Jurgen Klopp as their new boss on Thursday.
According to Rohan Banerjee of MailOnline, Carlo Ancelotti was another candidate for the job, but he revealed he won't be returning to management until next season. "I want to take my time to rest, but next season I am ready," said Ancelotti on Oct. 6.
Sky Sport Italia (h/t Football Italia, Tom Olver of Metro.co.uk) stated that former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo also emerged as a contender to take the position in what would have been a left-field appointment.

Di Matteo resigned as Schalke 04's coach in May and has been out of work ever since. He has no obvious ties to Liverpool, but he does have a UEFA Champions League triumph on his CV.
The Reds announced their decision to sack Rodgers hours after the Merseyside derby, stating a desire to appoint a successor "in a decisive and timely manner."
Rodgers left the Reds 10th in the Premier League table after claiming just three wins from their first eight games.
