Odell Beckham Jr. Sets NFL Record for Most Receiving Yards in 1st 16 Games
New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is most known for his epic catch that brought him viral fame as an NFL rookie, but the pass-catching phenom has made more than the occasional splash play.
Beckham has now, in fact, produced more than any wideout in NFL history through 16 games of action amid Sunday's Week 4 road contest against the Buffalo Bills, per ESPN Stats & Info:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
As Giants.com's Dan Salomone indicated before Sunday's contest, Beckham had already eclipsed the receptions record for a receiver's first 16 games with 110. And now Beckham has passed Bill Groman for most yards through a receiver's first 16 games. He entered needing just 20 yards to break the record, which Groman set during 1960-61 with 1,593 yards.
Experience in a pro-style offense at LSU combined with elite ball-tracking skills and explosiveness after the catch created a perfect storm for Beckham to thrive right away in the NFL. Unfazed by a hamstring injury that kept him out for his first four possible games in 2014, Beckham wasted no time in establishing himself among the game's elite at his position.
Those factors suggest his brilliance isn't a mere flash in the pan. Giants quarterback Eli Manning isn't bombing it deep to him every play or throwing all bubble screens. Beckham's advanced route running forces opposing secondaries to prepare for any cut at any moment.
Beckham is listed at 5'11" and 198 pounds, lacking the elite size of many top-tier receivers. Thanks to his tremendous skill set, though, the best defensive backs can hope to do is jam him in press coverage. Now, he is improving in that area of his game—and he's only 22 years old.
Defensive coordinators are bound to have persistent nightmares while scheming up a way to stop Beckham in the years to come if the unprecedented start to his career is any indication.
