Ohio State 4-Star Commits Demario McCall, George Hill Dominate Once Again

Tyler DonohueOct 4, 2015

The Ohio State Buckeyes offensive backfield currently includes three athletes—Cardale Jones, J.T. Barrett and Ezekiel Elliott—who entered the 2015 season as potential Heisman Trophy candidates.

Big Ten Conference opponents, beware—reinforcements are on the way.

Ohio State holds verbal commitments from a trio of talented running backs on the 2016 recruiting trail, claiming pledges from Demario McCall (North Ridgeville High School, Ohio), George Hill (Hubbard High School, Ohio) and Kareem Walker (DePaul Catholic High School, New Jersey).

Each member of the trio is a top-10 prospect at his position. The three help solidify a 2016 Buckeyes recruiting class that slots in at No. 1 overall in 247Sports' composite rankings.

Walker, the top-ranked running back among 2016 talents, enjoyed a bye week to start October. He rushed for 460 yards and four scores during DePaul Catholic's first four games this season, adding four receptions for 35 yards and one touchdown, per MaxPreps.

Hill erupted for the most impressive effort of the bunch this weekend, tallying four total touchdowns in a 35-14 victory over Niles High School. He gained 261 rushing yards on 19 carries and scored three times on the ground, according to WKBN.com.

The 6'0", 200-pound prospect sprinted from 81 yards out for his first trip to the end zone. He closed out the first half with a 64-yard touchdown burst to give his squad extra momentum heading into halftime.

Hill also added a 32-yard scoring reception. His receiving skills lead some to believe he could become a multifaceted weapon within the Ohio State offensive attack.

However, it remains to be seen whether a Big Ten rival could challenge to reverse his decision. Michigan State hosted Hill on campus Saturday, when the Spartans remained undefeated by defeating Purdue.

He attended East Lansing to watch former Hubbard High School teammate LJ Scott rumble for 146 yards and two scores. For now, Hill is slated to compete against Michigan State as a rival during his college career.

His senior season now features 755 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, per MaxPreps. Hill has gained 3,036 rushing yards and scored 38 times on the ground since the start of his sophomore campaign.

McCall, a 5'11", 180-pound playmaker who committed to Ohio State in March, made the most of his one half against North Olmsted High School. After missing early-season action because of an injury, he excelled in the first two quarters of a 44-21 win.

McCall rushed for 131 yards and two scores before exiting in the second quarter with a shoulder bone bruise, per Shaun Bennett of the Chronicle-Telegram.

Considering the crowded crop of exceptional running backs Ohio State expects to have in Columbus, McCall admitted competition plays a factor.

"It's definitely something I think about," he told Bleacher Report. "That's a lot of talent coming in at one position. But Ohio State is where I feel like I'm meant to be."
