Sergio Aguero Scores 5 vs. Newcastle United: Twitter Reaction, Comments and More

Manchester City star Sergio Aguero had himself a day during Saturday's Premier League action, tying a league record by scoring five goals against Newcastle United.

As shared by the Premier League's official Twitter account, the Argentina international joined a small group of forwards who have achieved the feat:

Aleksandar Mitrovic had actually given the Magpies the lead in the first half, but once Aguero found his shooting boots, the match changed dramatically.

He equalised near the end of the first half and added four more goals, all in a span of 20 minutes. Bleacher Report UK broke down his tally:

The 2015-16 campaign hasn't been a great one yet for Aguero, who came into the match with just one Premier League goal on his resume, per WhoScored.com. Saturday's performance was sorely needed, or as professional footballer Darren O'Dea put it:

Even fans from hated rivals Manchester United gave the 27-year-old props―sort of:

No player in Premier League history has ever scored six goals in a single match, and naturally, fans and pundits, like the Liverpool Echo's Kristian Walsh, were hoping the Argentinian would have the chance to set the new record.

Alas, it wasn't to be. Manager Manuel Pellegrini preferred keeping his star striker fresh and healthy, taking him off for Wilfried Bony minutes after he scored his fifth.
