Bookies Lean Towards Rodgers Departure

The tenure of Rodgers at Liverpool could soon be over, with a number of top class managers lining up to take the Anfield hot seat.

Bruce Archer of the Express says Ajax's Frank de Boer has joined Jurgen Klopp as a possible replacement for the beleaguered coach, with bookmakers suggesting the manager will depart if he loses the Premier League derby to Everton.

De Boer has recently spoken publicly about Liverpool in glowing terms in a BBC World Service interview (h/t Paul Joyce of the Express), and he expressed a desire to move to a new club: "Yes, I think every year it comes closer, of course. I'm looking maybe for another adventure. If there is an interesting club that I think with my quality I can make that team better—if I can, than I will take that chance."

De Boer's comments do not help Rodgers as he looks to steady the ship at Liverpool, but the post will be a desirable one should FSG dispose of the services of their current manager and look for a continental alternative.

Liverpool have conceded nine goals in their first seven Premier League ties, per Squawka.com, winning only three games by the narrowest of margins.

The form of the side has highlighted Rodgers' tactical confusion, as the Reds fail in both defence and attack, and the temptation will be strong for the team's owners to bring in a European thinker to the club.

Klopp and De Boer both have great tactical acumen and fit the profile of the type of manager Liverpool desperately need.
