Berdych Eases Into Last Four

Sixth seed Vesely put up little fight against compatriot Berdych as the world No. 6 came through in just over 90 minutes.

While the 22-year-old was able to force four break points during the match, he was unable to convert any of them and could never gain any momentum in the quarter-final clash.

The encounter was interrupted for rain at one point, but that had no effect on Berdych's rhythm, per TennisNow:

The No. 1 seed claimed an early break in the first and that was all he needed to seal a 6-3 victory.

The second set saw him earn a double break to see out the match, but Berdych will likely be concerned with his lowly first-serve percentage in that set of just 38 per cent, per ATP.

That will not hold up in the semi-final when he faces Robredo, whose three-set victory over Bolelli started in disastrous fashion.

Third seed Robredo was broken twice early and went down in the opener 6-1. However, the Spaniard turned things around impressively, breaking twice in the second set to force a decider.

The Italian put up a brave fight in the final set saving numerous break points, but eventually Robredo's quality shone through and he took the match in just under two hours.

Cilic had to get past 19-year-old Chung to confirm a place in the semi-finals, and he was well challenged by the youngster.

The pair exchanged breaks in the opener before the world No. 14 came through 8-6 in a tie-break. Cilic then took advantage in the second set as he forced two breaks to Chung's one to seal victory and advance to face Garcia-Lopez in the semi-finals.
