NFL Week 4 Betting Picks: Underdog Chiefs, Bucs, Dolphins Choice on Odds

OddsShark.comOct 1, 2015

There are seven unbeaten teams left in the NFL heading into Week 4 of the season compared to just four that are winless.

While the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots (3-0) enjoy their bye week as people start talking about whether they can repeat their perfect regular season from 2007, look for the number of undefeated teams to drop after Sunday’s games when the Carolina Panthers (3-0) and the Cincinnati Bengals (3-0) become the latest teams to suffer their first losses.

Neither the Panthers nor the Bengals appear to be prime candidates to lose on paper considering the struggling opponents they are playing. But that’s exactly why you need to dig a little deeper to find out why the Kansas City Chiefs (1-2) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-2) both have solid shots to pull off upsets.

After losing to the Denver Broncos and the Green Bay Packers in consecutive weeks, the Chiefs visit Cincinnati as four-point road underdogs, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. The Broncos and the Packers do not yet have a loss between them, so this marks the third straight game Kansas City will play a team under that scenario.

Meanwhile, the Bengals are coming off a thrilling comeback win on the road against the Baltimore Ravens, who have not yet earned a victory this year. Cincinnati can’t help but suffer a letdown in this spot off that divisional game and will get surprised at home.

Carolina would seem to have an easier time visiting Tampa Bay, but they will be playing a divisional game here against a team that is desperate to end a 10-game home losing streak. Last Sunday, the Panthers were lucky to beat a New Orleans Saints team that is still without a win and played without quarterback Drew Brees.

The Bucs are only three-point home underdogs, and the spread would be much higher if they had no chance. The oddsmakers are giving them respect, and they will earn it with a victory.

A third underdog that will win outright in Week 4 will be playing overseas in London, as the Miami Dolphins (1-2) square off against the New York Jets (2-1) in another divisional matchup.

The Jets got off to a surprising 2-0 start but suffered their first loss at home last Sunday to the Philadelphia Eagles, who got their first victory. The Dolphins were abysmal in getting routed in their first home game last week against the Buffalo Bills, although they are a much better team than they have shown so far.

Miami will get another win versus New York to even things out behind New England in the AFC East.
