Kompany to Miss Belgium Friendlies

Kristof Terreur of Het Laatste Nieuws confirmed the centre-back suffered a niggle and is subsequently out of the two matches against Italy and Spain. The problem was described as a "minor calf injury."
Losing Kompany would be a massive blow for the Citizens, who already had to do without their leader due to an injury this season and embarked upon a brief losing streak while the Belgium international was out of action.
Kompany will be hoping to get back to full fitness for City at the earliest opportunity, with their next Premier League game a vital one against Liverpool on Nov. 21.
Summer signing Nicolas Otamendi will face new pressure to step up to the plate should Kompany be absent, while Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis could be given more responsibilities to plug the gaps in central defence.
