It's just the preseason, but it's never too early to show your teammates you have their backs.
During Tuesday night's preseason game against the Los Angeles Kings, the Anaheim Ducks' Josh Manson came to teammate Chris Wagner's defense after the Kings' Milan Lucic hit Wagner from behind.
The 23-year-old Ducks defenseman has played in a total of 28 games in the NHL, but Manson knows how the game works. When a teammate gets hit like that, you get his back. Manson went up and dropped the gloves with the veteran Lucic—and he held his own.
Lucic and Manson got locked into a marathon fight, with the two players even separating for a brief moment to regroup. Then, it was back on.
Manson eventually wound up on the ice, but he earned a lot of respect from his teammates for what he did in his team's 2-1 win.
