NFL Power Rankings 2015: AFC, NFC Records, Division Standings and Week 4 Outlook

Jared JohnsonSep 30, 2015

Through three weeks of the NFL regular season, four teams seem to be separating themselves from the pack. The New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos have all asserted their dominance and looked like Super Bowl contenders.

Of course, this is the NFL, so all of this could change as soon as Week 4.

As the league stands right now, let's take a look at how every squad stacks up. We'll review each team's record and division standing then preview three divisional matchups that offer plenty of intrigue.

Notable Divisional Games

Baltimore Ravens (0-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1)

The outcome of this game became a lot tougher to predict after Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sprained his MCL Sunday. Per ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Roethlisberger will be out until around midseason.

Replacing him is Michael Vick, a 35-year-old former No. 1 overall pick who's now playing for his third team as many seasons. A running quarterback who still has great mobility, Vick's passing accuracy and instincts aren't even in the same league as Big Ben's.

Pittsburgh does have top-notch playmakers such as wide receiver Antonio Brown and running back Le'Veon Bell to help him out, so that does work in Vick's favor, as will the Steelers' home crowd at Heinz Field.

The Ravens are 0-3, which is disappointing for a team that is almost always an AFC North contender, but they haven't been terrible. All of their losses have been by six points or fewer.

Can Joe Flacco lift the Ravens to a much-needed first win?

Both teams have struggled against the pass—Baltimore ranks No. 29 in the league in yards allowed through the air, and Pittsburgh has allowed opposing quarterbacks to accumulate a 108.8 passer rating.

The difference is Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will take much better advantage of that weakness than Vick will.

Prediction: Ravens 26, Steelers 20

New York Jets (2-1) at Miami Dolphins (1-2)

This matchup is designated as a home game for the Dolphins, but the contest will actually be at Wembley Stadium in London, a complex usually reserved for a different type of football.

Although there might not be as many Jets and Dolphins fans there in person as usual, the crowd in London will have a good matchup to watch.

New York started its season with two excellent performances, defeating the Cleveland Browns 31-10 in Week 2 and then handcuffing the Indianapolis Colts offense for a 20-7 victory on the Week 2 installment of Monday Night Football. However, the Jets disappointed Sunday, falling behind 24-0 at home against the Philadelphia Eagles and losing 24-17.

Ryan Tannehill must protect the ball against an aggressive Jets defense in Week 4.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, have yet to put together a performance that reflects their talent level in a 1-2 start to the season. Their most recent game was a 41-14 home beatdown at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. Miami's secondary made quarterback Tyrod Taylor looked like Superman, as the first-year starter threw for 277 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 3.

This game is between division rivals who both have skilled rosters coming off terrible performances, so it should be close. Expect Miami, with the threat of a 1-3 record on the horizon, to play its heart out and get the close win.

Prediction: Dolphins 27, Jets 23

St. Louis Rams (1-2) at Arizona Cardinals (3-0)

Carson Palmer is leading a surprisingly dominant Cardinals offense.

If someone had told you before the season the Cardinals would win the first three games of the 2015 campaign, you wouldn't be that surprised. Matchups against the New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers didn't look too formidable.

But an average margin of victory of 25.7 points? That wouldn't seem real. But it is.

Arizona is playing well in all phases of the game right now and thoroughly dominating its opponents. Quarterback Carson Palmer is a legitimate MVP candidate so far, and it doesn't hurt that he has a rock-solid offensive line protecting him. Resurgent star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is helping by putting up some crazy numbers, per ESPN Stats & Info:

Defensively, there are no real weaknesses, and free safety Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu is emerging as one of the best ball hawks in the NFL.

The Rams are on a two-game losing streak after taking down the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, and they have a solid defense. However, an offense that managed a combined 16 points against the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers isn't going to do much against the Cardinals' stacked defensive unit.

Prediction: Cardinals 28, Rams 13
