Liverpool Transfer News: Stunt Ends Lawrence Vigouroux Loan, Marko Rog Rumours

Tom SunderlandSep 28, 2015

Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has seen a loan spell at Swindon Town cut short following a bizarre falling out at the club, while the Reds are once again thought to be courting the services of youngster Marko Rog.

Vigouroux incurred the Robins' wrath last week after turning up to training late and was fined £50 for the incident. However, the Daily Mail's Simon Jones reported Vigouroux's loan was terminated after he chose to pay the sum in penny coins.

The former Tottenham Hotspur stopper was enjoying a patch of good form for the League One outfit and started in Swindon's first eight games of the season before being dropped against Colchester United last Saturday.

Swindon Town went on to lose their third game in succession with Mark Belford replacing Vigouroux in between the posts, and Here In The City writer Chris Linnell clearly saw a difference in quality:

Robins manager Mark Cooper clearly didn't see the funny side of the player's stunt, and Vigouroux will now be forced to search for first-team minutes elsewhere as he makes the move back to Anfield.

It's highly unlikely the 21-year-old will be challenging current goalkeeping pair Simon Mignolet and Adam Bogdan for a place in Brendan Rodgers' senior squad, especially if the manager agrees this is due to an attitude issue.

While Vigouroux showed some impressive perseverance in hauling a total of 5,000 pennies to the County Ground, one moment of hilarity could end up setting his career back, particularly if Liverpool frown on his actions, too.

Meanwhile, the Merseysiders are being linked with Dinamo Zagreb starlet Marko Rog, according to the Sun, who is being "valued at around £8 million," per Bruce Archer of the Daily Express.

The 20-year-old has already spent time developing in some of his native Croatia's biggest outfits, spending a season with Hadjuk Split before moving to Zagreb for a fee of €5 million last summer.

Rog would be duelling for a place in what's already a fairly loaded section of Rodgers' squad were he to complete a January move to Liverpool, with the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino occupying attacking midfield.

However, there may be need of some more incisive attackers as far as the numbers show after Eurosport identified the Reds as one of the least accurate Premier League outfits so far this season:

Rog is a part of the new generation in Croatia, having already made his senior international debut in November 2014 and starting in 11 of his 18 appearances for Dinamo this term, scoring twice.

Rodgers has shown himself to be favourable of youth investment during his spells at Liverpool and Swansea City, but Rog is one who might be better off left to evolve in his native Croatia before making the move to England.
