It might not have been the prettiest game, but the Denver Broncos loved the outcome. On the arm of quarterback Peyton Manning, and the shoulders of a smothering defense, the Broncos outlasted the Detroit Lions 24-12. The win puts the Broncos at 3-0, and the Lions fall to 0-3.
Both teams traded punches early, and struggled to find the end zone. However, as the Detroit offense took hit after hit, they wore down, made mistakes, and Denver capitalized. Manning threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns, including a beautiful throw to tight end Owen Daniels on the final drive to seal the victory.
Denver welcomes the Minnesota Vikings to town next Sunday, and the Lions try and regroup quickly because things don't get any easier. The Lions next travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks on Monday night.
