Worst Fears Confirmed for Wilson, Manager Howe Upbeat

Tuesday, Sept. 29

Wilson is "set to spend at least six months sidelined after scans confirmed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee," Bournemouth announced.

Manager Eddie Howe added: ”It’s very disappointing for Callum, after what has been an exceptional start to the season, but I am sure he will come back fitter and stronger."

Wilson Diagnosis Leaves Bournemouth Open to Questions

Saturday, Sept. 26

The 23-year-old forward underwent treatment after a challenge from Stoke defender Philipp Wollscheid in the eighth minute at the Britannia Stadium, but shortly after his return, he had to be stretchered away.

Bournemouth's decision to allow Wilson to return to the match after the initial injury, only to see him crumble in a heap, has been viewed as controversial, as highlighted by Kyle Martino of NBC Sports:

The former Coventry man netted five goals prior to Bournemouth's trip to Stoke, lifting his side to 14th in the table.

Howe must now find a way to replace those goals if the Cherries are to successfully stave off relegation this season.
