WWE Superstar of the Week for September 26: Paige

The Doctor Chris MuellerSep 26, 2015

It's been an interesting week for everyone in WWE. We have seen three titles change hands, a major heel turn and the return of a masked demon.

With Hell in a Cell, the Madison Square Garden special and the next NXT TakeOver event all coming up in the next few weeks, there is a lot to look forward to.

Whenever a busy period like this approaches, everyone in WWE turns up the intensity and works a little harder to make sure we get the most bang for our buck.

Before we get to the Superstar of the Week, let's look at a couple of people who need to be acknowledged for their hard work.

Honorable Mention: Kane

Before Brock Lesnar kayfabe broke Kane's leg, the Director of Operations was becoming as stale as week-old bread. It's not Kane's fault; he was working with what he was given.

Now that he is back and apparently suffering from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde syndrome, his character is a lot more intriguing.

The fact he is wearing his mask again is not what makes him interesting, nor is it his split personality. It's Glenn Jacobs' performance in the role that is winning people over.

He is playing a more sarcastic Kane than we have seen in the past, and the shift in attitude is refreshing. He played the same angry person for years, but he is finally getting a chance to spread his wings and explore other aspects of his personality.

Small changes can go a long way to revitalizing a character. This is something Kane has needed for a long time, and if the past week is any indication, he is embracing this change wholeheartedly.

Honorable Mention: Sting

Not only did Sting exceed expectations in his match with Seth Rollins at Night of Champions, but he showed just how tough he is by finishing the match with a potentially serious neck injury.

While it might not have been the smartest move on his part to continue knowing he was hurt, it showed just how dedicated he is to this business.

Also, the fact he didn't win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship shows how willing he is to put others over after decades of success. Sting could have easily politicked his way into a title reign, but that's not who he is. He is the kind of guy who would rather help the current generation than hog the spotlight.

We still don't know if Sting will ever wrestle again, but if he ends up retiring due to this injury, he went out with a great performance and put over a man who will be a leader in WWE for years to come.

Superstar of the Week for September 26: Paige

The Divas Revolution has given several women in the company a great opportunity to prove they can be just as entertaining as the men, but until this week, there wasn't much depth to the storylines.

During Charlotte's Divas Championship celebration on Raw, Paige finally shook things up by turning heel and abandoning Becky Lynch and the new champion.

The promo she gave about starting the Divas Revolution and wanting more for herself was delivered with confidence and charisma. After months of blending in as a babyface, everyone's favorite glampire instantly became the most interesting part of the Divas division.

Paige is one of those people who seems better suited as a heel. Her wrestling style is more aggressive than most, and that will help her get the heat she needs to make this change work.

And let's face it: People from the United Kingdom are great at playing bad guys. Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter and Vinnie Jones in any of his many villainous roles prove that.

Paige is incredibly talented in the ring, but Monday, she showed everyone she can be just as good on the mic. For someone who is only 23 years old, she is already way ahead of the curve.

Her string of matches with Sasha Banks reminded the WWE Universe that with the right opponent, she can steal the show from the men any day of the week.

It's going to be a lot of fun watching her chase the title, and there is little doubt she and Charlotte will put on some great performances.

What do you think? Was Paige the Superstar of the Week? If not her, then who?
