Bale came into this season with manager Rafa Benitez attempting to play him more centrally in order to take some of the load off Cristiano Ronaldo's shoulders.
With James Rodriguez on the bench against Sevilla as he looks to return from his own injury setback, the manager now has the option of the Colombian or Isco along with Bale as the Welshman eases his way back into form.
Both players offer an excellent array of passing and a commendable work rate, although neither offers the explosive incision of Bale.
