Boston College travels to Clemson this week to take on the Tigers who lost a heartbreaker to Georgia Tech last Thursday night 30-27. Boston College has played two weak opponents in their first two games to open the season but I think they have a good enough squad to play close with Clemson. Boston College thrashed Northeastern 54-0 then covered as 21 point favorites over Kent State last week winning 34-7.

Boston College can keep this game close for two reasons; they can run the ball and they have a solid defense. I know they played weak opponents but Boston College has averaged 181 yards rushing a game in the first two contests. They also have only given up an average of 3.5 points per game. As an underdog when you can run the ball and play good D, you have a chance to cover the spread. Clemson has had trouble stopping the run in their first two ball games giving up almost an average of 200 yards a game on the ground. That is the major weakness of this ball club and it could come back to haunt them.
Clemson has great skill players on offense but I think this Boston College defense will be up to the challenge. That will likely be the key to who wins and covers this ball game. Boston College should be able to move the ball on Clemson but whether or not they can stop the playmakers Clemson has on offense will determine the outcome of this game. I expect this to be a tight, hard fought ACC game. Therefore, I like the points in this situation.
Clemson has to come out and shake off a tough loss to Georgia Tech and if they aren’t focused, Boston College can pull the upset. I think Boston College is ready for this ball game to prove that they belong in the talk of the top teams in the ACC. Clemson is just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games versus a team with a winning record. I’m still not sold on Kyle Parker, the quarterback for Clemson and I think Boston College could give him trouble. Take the points as this should be a very competitive game.
