USA vs. Iroquois 2015 World Lacrosse Championship Game Date and Start Time
There's little time for the United States to enjoy their 22-2 quarterfinal win against Ireland. For putting up team-bests in goals scored and conceded on Thursday night, their reward is a matchup against the Iroquois Nationals.
United States vs. Iroquois
When: Friday, Sept. 25
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Venue: Onondaga Nation Arena
These two have already met during the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, with the Iroquois grabbing a 13-9 win in the tournament opener.
Finishing behind the Iroquois is nothing new for the United States. In each of the past three championships, the U.S. has taken home the bronze medal while the Iroquois have gotten the silver.
The Iroquois lost one game during their group play, and it came at the hands of the three-time defending champions Canada. But they replied by winning their next two games, outscoring their opponents 37-10.
The U.S. was in need of a scoring outburst like that. While they haven't exactly impressed during their tournament this year, the Red, White and Blue didn't score more than 14 goals against weaker opponents like the Czech Republic and England.
Their offense will have to try and keep up with the likes of the Iroquois' Thompson brothers, Miles and Lyle. The former University at Albany stars are enjoying an impressive tournament so far, as Miles has scored nine goals and Lyle has 12 in four games.
In order to hang with the Iroquois, the United States are going to need a repeat performance from their offense that beat down Ireland. On Thursday, America had six scorers record three goals or more. With both of these team's records, nothing suggests that this won't be a high-scoring affair, but I see the host Iroquois moving onto the finals.
