Week 4 College Football Picks: Ride UCLA, Utah, BYU on Road Betting Odds

OddsShark.comSep 24, 2015

Two of Saturday's Pac-12 college football betting matchups feature teams that have enjoyed a lot of success away from home. Meanwhile, another team from the West has done the same with a perfect 3-0 mark against the spread overall this year.

The ninth-ranked UCLA Bruins (3-0), 18th-ranked Utah Utes (3-0) and 22nd-ranked BYU Cougars (2-1) are all worth backing based on how they have performed on the road recently.

UCLA and Utah visit the 16th-ranked Arizona Wildcats (3-0) and 13th-ranked Oregon Ducks (2-1), respectively, in Week 4. The Bruins have won eight straight road games dating back to last year, and they have also won and covered each of their past three meetings with the Wildcats.

UCLA freshman quarterback Josh Rosen continues to impress and will face his first real test against a conference opponent as a three-point road favorite at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

The Utes are in a much different situation as double-digit road underdogs against the Ducks. However, Utah has gone 6-1 ATS in its last seven road games and 3-2 versus the line in the past five meetings with Oregon despite losing four times.

The Utes stayed within a touchdown of the Ducks in two of the games and are getting 11.5 points this time around. Oregon is also just 1-4 ATS in its last five games during the month of September, according to the Odds Shark College Football Database, including two the team failed to cover at home earlier this season.

The Cougars nearly upset the Bruins on the road last week in a tough 24-23 loss, but they still covered the spread easily as 16.5-point underdogs. BYU freshman quarterback Tanner Mangum has been a nice surprise since replacing Taysom Hill, leading a pair of comeback wins with game-winning touchdown passes on Hail Mary plays.

One of them came when the Cougars were 4.5-point road dogs against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the season opener after he took over for Hill, who suffered a season-ending foot injury.

They will visit another Big Ten school this week in the Michigan Wolverines (2-1), who are 5.5-point home favorites and 1-2 ATS under first-year head coach Jim Harbaugh.
