Roy Jones Jr. vs. Enzo Maccarinelli Fight Announced: Latest Details and Reaction
Roy Jones Jr. confirmed to TMZ Sports on Wednesday that he will be fighting Enzo Maccarinelli on November 28th in Russia.
That fight could potentially be a title fight if Maccarinelli's yet to be determined bout on October 10th in Newport, Wales ends up being for a belt.
According to TMZ Sports, Jones recently flew to Moscow to meet with Russian president Vladimir Putin to request Russian citizenship. Jones reportedly desires to "help repair U.S./Russia relations."
Jones (62-8, 45 knockouts) has won eight straight bouts since his three straight losses between 2009-11, while Maccarinelli (38-7, 30 knockouts) is trying to recover from last year's loss to Jurgen Brahmer that cost him his WBA World Light Heavyweight title. Both fighters have their eyes on earning another belt, though Maccarinelli's next fight will determine whether the match in Russia will be a title fight.
