'FIFA 16' Review of New Bundesliga Broadcast Presentation and More

Brian MaziqueSep 23, 2015

Presentation is one of the hallmarks of FIFA 16. From an audiovisual standpoint, the game is on par with the NBA 2K series, and anyone who has played 2K Sports' iconic hoops franchise understands that is high praise.

The newest addition to the presentation package is the all-new Bundesliga TV-style broadcast for the German league. Much like EA Sports did with La Liga back in FIFA 14, the developers have given the Bundesliga its own package.

Here's the way EASports.com describes the new Bundesliga broadcast elements:

"One of the most popular leagues in the world, the German Bundesliga in FIFA 16 will now have its own authentic overlay package that mirrors broadcast matches. Matches involving two Bundesliga sides will have the same look and feel as seen on matchday."

Here's a look at a table from a career mode match within the game to give you an idea. Just below that is an example of how a Bundesliga match looks in FIFA 16. To get the full impact, the video below from bPartGaming has the German announcers turned on. It's pretty awesome.

The Bundesliga package is just one part of the new sights and sounds featured in FIFA 16.

In career mode, you'll be taken on a ride through an evolving journey that creates a solid narrative around what your club or individual player is experiencing. Martin Tyler and Alan Smith will tell stories about transfers around the world, as well as give information about your club.

There are also nine different types of weather that visually impact the game. In a perfect world, we might see a bit more weather-influenced animations like slips and stumbles. For now, it's great to see the splashes at the feet of the players as they sprint.

From an audio standpoint, there are more than 900 new chants in the game. As evidenced by the video above, it's clear how much the crowd audio impacts immersion in the game. The more EA Sports can make each stadium feel unique, the better.

Playing FIFA 16 is fun, but thanks to the new presentation elements, simply watching it is pretty entertaining as well.
