WWE NXT: Full Preview, Match Card and More for September 23

The Doctor Chris MuellerSep 23, 2015

Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for this week's episode of WWE NXT, where we take a spoiler-free look at what's in store for the developmental brand's upcoming episode.

The next live special, TakeOver: Respect, is coming up in a few weeks. We already know Bayley will defend the Women's Championship against Sasha Banks in the first Iron Woman match, but there is a lot of room left on the card for more bouts.

This week's show has a couple segments that could lay the groundwork for what will fill up the rest of the card on October 7. Let's take a look at what's scheduled for this week's episode.

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

The Men

The only singles match set for Wednesday will see Bull Dempsey go up against Tyler Breeze. These two men teamed up in the first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in a losing effort.

Breeze may see the loss as Dempsey's fault since he is the one who took the pin, so this could be Prince Pretty's way of getting revenge.

Dempsey and Breeze have been in NXT for quite awhile, so their paths have crossed several times. Because their styles are so vastly different, they are usually able to put on a good show.

Breeze favors flair and showmanship, while Dempsey is an old-school brawler. There's nothing on the line, so all the winner will come away with is a boost in confidence. Regardless of the outcome, this should be a fun match.

The Women

The only match featuring the women of NXT on this week's show is Eva Marie vs. Carmella. It's safe to say Carmella will go into this one with the support of the crowd.

Carmella has done a great job as Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady's manager, but she needs more time to show off her skills in the ring if she ever hopes to be more than a valet.

Eva Marie made great strides to improve her wrestling ability by training privately with Brian Kendrick, but the crowd still treats her like a beauty queen WWE handed a contract to on a silver platter.

Getting a win over Carmella won't make the fans love her. What she needs to do at this point is embrace her heel persona and become the most hated woman in the company.

If her skills ever come close to reaching the level of heat she has, then the sky is the limit for how far she can go as a Diva.

A win in this match would definitely help either competitor, but at this point, Eva Marie is the one who needs it the most.

In addition to this bout, we will also see the debut of Kana, who will now be going by the name Asuka. She will be appearing in the ring with William Regal to give her a proper introduction to the WWE Universe.

Whenever a new talent first appears in a non-wrestling segment, they are often interrupted by someone looking to take them down a peg.

It will be interesting to see which women, if any, choose to confront the Japanese wrestler and how Kana will react to the situation. She is the kind of talent who has the ability to make a big impact right out of the gate, so hopefully her debut segment goes smoothly.

The Tag Teams

Two tag matches are scheduled for this week, and surprisingly, neither of them have anything to do with the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable will be taking on Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder in the first match. These are two duos that have tried hard to establish themselves as credible teams in recent months, and they have done a decent job up to this point.

When WWE brought up The Ascension and The Lucha Dragons to the main roster, a void was left in the tag team division. Since then, even more teams have stepped up to fill that space.

All four of these men have the fundamentals necessary to have a good match, but they are still attempting to establish unique personalities.

Unfortunately, the outcome is somewhat obvious based on the tournament brackets. The Mechanics have already advanced to the semifinals, so it's likely they will pick up another win to give them a boost heading into TakeOver: Respect.

The main event of the evening will see The Vaudevillains defend their Tag Team Championships against the team they defeated to win them, Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

Unless Blue Pants makes another surprise appearance, Team BAMF has the advantage with Alexa Bliss outside the ring.

She is the one who helped Blake and Murphy win the belts in the first place. She could play a key role in helping them retain the titles on this week's episode.

These four men put on a good match at TakeOver: Brooklyn, so we can expect another fun encounter on Wednesday.

What are you looking forward to on this week's episode of NXT?
