WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for September 24

Erik BeastonSep 22, 2015

Despite successfully retaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship over Sting at Night of Champions, Seth Rollins found himself on the receiving end of a chokeslam and Tombstone piledriver at the hands of the returning Kane.

Things did not get much better for The Architect one night later on Raw as he was dragged under the ring by the Big Red Monster to close out the show.

Tuesday during WWE's SmackDown tapings, Rollins again found himself at odds with the Director of Operations, leading to the announcement of a tremendous non-title match.

Would The Devil's Favorite Demon allow the heavyweight champion to compete in peace, or would he interject himself into the proceedings, thus further intensifying the tension between the two?

Fans in Corpus Christi, Texas, found out the answer to that question on Tuesday night and watched as the company began its build to October's Hell in a Cell.

Now you can as well, thanks to our friends over at WrestlingInc.com

Results

  • Kane kicked off the night's show. He announced several of the night's matches but was interrupted by Seth Rollins, who was far from happy with what went down Monday night on Raw. Kane teased a turn to his darker side but ultimately composed himself. He announced Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose in a non-title main event.
  • Roman Reigns defeated Luke Harper in a match where The Wyatt Family and Dean Ambrose were banned from ringside, per Kane's orders.
  • The New Day defeated Neville and the Lucha Dragons.
  • Bo Dallas cut a promo on Cesaro, trying to inspire the Swiss Superman following a string of losses to Big Show.
  • Cesaro defeated Dallas.
  • Charlotte and Becky Lynch made their way to the ring, and the Divas champion thanked fans for their support. Paige interrupted and took credit for the entire Divas Revolution. Natalya cut her off and suggested that Paige should be happy with the progress the Divas have made. The Brit told her that the Revolution passed her by and slapped her before walking off.
  • Dolph Ziggler and Ryback defeated Kevin Owens and Rusev. Owens walked out on his partner, leaving him to fend for himself.
  • Dean Ambrose defeated Seth Rollins in a non-title match when Kane's pyro provided a distraction. Rollins vowed to make Kane's life miserable if he kept it up. The flames erupted, and Rollins ran to end the show.

Analysis

There is reason to not be thrilled about Kane's involvement in the main event, especially given his age and the wealth of talented individuals behind him in the pecking order. At least his feud with Rollins makes sense given the history between the two characters and the way Rollins left the Director of Operations lying in the ring following a brutal assault at the hands of Brock Lesnar.

The escalation of their program on this week's show would seem to indicate that the two are on a collision course, preparing to do battle inside the most dangerous structure in professional wrestling at Hell in a Cell.

As for Rollins' match on SmackDown, he and Ambrose have wicked in-ring chemistry and can almost always be counted on to deliver a crowd-pleasing contest. That should again be the case when they clash on this week's broadcast.

Just days after delivering what social media has dubbed the #PaigeBomb, Paige continues to demonstrate an attitude change that has put her at odds with everyone from Divas champion Charlotte to Natalya, whom she insultingly slaps on SmackDown.

Any fan who appreciates women's wrestling should be incredibly excited about the potential of matches between the two in-ring veterans in what would amount to a secondary rivalry in the Divas division.

The previously announced matches pitting Dolph Ziggler and Ryback against Rusev and Kevin Owens, as well as Roman Reigns vs. Luke Harper and The New Day vs. Neville and the Lucha Dragons should provide those who take the time to tune into SmackDown a fun and entertaining show.
