Vikings Become More Family-Friendly by Adding Lactation Suites to Stadium
Professional sports teams usually do everything they can to be as accommodating as possible for fans. Now, the Minnesota Vikings are making it easier for families to go to games.
According to a Vikings press release, Minnesota will become the first NFL team to install lactation suites for breastfeeding mothers at its stadium. The team will install two Mamava lactation suites at TCF Bank Stadium, which are expected to be in by Oct. 18.

The Mamava lactation suites are "self-contained, mobile pod[s] with comfortable benches, an electrical outlet for plugging in a breast pump and a door that can be locked for privacy." The suites will be four-by-eight feet to ensure that mothers can take care of their children comfortably.
Here's what Vikings Chief Operating Officer Kevin Warren had to say about the suites, via the press release:
"Creating a family-friendly environment and a positive experience for all fans at our football games is paramount to the Minnesota Vikings. While we certainly encourage breastfeeding mothers to nurse where they feel comfortable, we have become increasingly aware of the need many moms have for the privacy and comfort that these Mamava lactation suites provide.
"
When the team moves over to the new U.S. Bank Stadium in 2016, lactation suites will be installed there as well. The Vikings are also "exploring a nursing area that will allow moms to stay connected to the game."
Minnesota is the latest team to accommodate nursing mothers. Last offseason, the Cincinnati Reds added a nursing suite to Great American Ball Park to make the stadium even more fan-friendly.
