Ibe Ends Absence Against West Brom
Sunday, Dec. 13
Liverpool's young star appeared as a second-half substitute during Sunday's Anfield encounter with West Bromwich Albion, per James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.
Versatility Key to Ibe's Appeal
Ibe has proved himself to be a useful member of the Liverpool squad since boss Jurgen Klopp's arrival in October. Already in his short career, the 20-year-old has shown the ability to fill a variety of roles, including on either side of midfield and even as a right wing-back. It's an adaptability that bodes well for the young man's progression at the very highest level.
But Ibe is at his best when played in an advanced midfield role, and remarkably, after another summer of big spending, he's the only orthodox wide player the Reds have in their squad.
While the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana can play out wide, none are as raw and direct as Ibe when it comes to playing that role.
He may not be the finished article yet, but Ibe already has an important duty to fulfil in the Liverpool squad. Without him, the team's attack looks a little one-dimensional.
