Klopp Comments on Gomez's Injury Following Predicted Recovery Timeline
Thursday, Oct. 15
Klopp was coy when discussing Gomez's injury, saying: "We have to wait for further diagnosis."
Previously, Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph noted the young defender faces "up to nine months out, preventing the 18-year-old from featuring until the next pre-season."
Liverpool Equipped to Deal with Gomez's Absence
Gomez emerged as a surprise first-team staple since moving to Anfield over the summer, starting in all five of his league outings at left-back under departed manager Brendan Rodgers.
While he still has much room for improvement, his youthful verve and versatility—he can play as a full-back and as a centre-back—will be missed while he is sidelined.
However, Alberto Moreno will likely fill the role in Gomez's absence, and he is a more than able alternative. His stock may have fallen since arriving on Merseyside, but Moreno was once viewed as one of the best young talents in Europe.
Equally, Liverpool have plenty of cover at centre-back, including Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Emre Can.
