Texas Governor Greg Abbott Votes for Tim Tebow to Replace Injured Tony Romo

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suffered a fractured left clavicle against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, so the team faces some uncertainty at the position.

If the Cowboys are searching the market for a replacement, Texas governor Greg Abbott has a suggestion: Tim Tebow.

The Eagles released Tebow when they trimmed their roster to 53 players a week before the 2015 season began. He has not been on an NFL roster during the season since he was a member of the New York Jets in 2012.

It came as a surprise to some that Philadelphia cut Tebow, especially after the team traded quarterback Matt Barkley, seemingly clearing a roster spot for him. However, the Eagles decided Tebow—now back working for ESPN as an analyst—had not done enough in the preseason to earn a spot.

Outside of the New England Patriots, no team in the NFL gets more attention than the Cowboys. And it could be argued that Tebow is the most talked-about athlete in the history of sports. Michael Jordan and LeBron James attract a ton of media attention, but the peak of Tebow Mania may never be matched. Imagine what would happen if Tebow became a Cowboy.

Dallas is looking to find a way to win games with Romo out. For now, it appears the Cowboys are ready to give Brandon Weeden a shot. Should he stumble, Tebow could always be an option—because he does have a knack for winning games.
