Chris Jericho Teams with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose at WWE Night of Champions

Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns looked to Bray Wyatt's past to find their partner for Night of Champions. The former Shield members revealed Chris Jericho as the third man for their team against the Wyatt Family.

Once the famous countdown began, WWE fans everywhere recognized Y2J's impending arrival, per WWE:

Just whom Ambrose and Reigns would select had been hotly debated for weeks. Kane, Erick Rowan and even Seth Rollins were among the Superstars considered. Chad Dukes of 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C., envisioned a younger wrestler getting the chance to shine on a major stage:

Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas argued that Jericho was a shrewd selection in terms of the bigger picture:

Korderas proved to be on the money, as it was, in fact, Jericho who came up on the losing end after he fell victim to Braun Strowman's modified triangle choke. Y2J then brusquely walked past his partners following the match:

It will be interesting to see if Ambrose and Reigns continue looking for somebody who will help them match up with the Wyatt Family. Perhaps Ambrose or Reigns will have a match with Jericho at Night of Champions in the meantime.

In a perfect world, Rollins will drop the WWE Intercontinental Championship and WWE World Heavyweight Championship, thus opening up a full Shield reunion. Almost every fan would love to see a revival of the epic Shield-Wyatt Family rivalry.
